About us

We make Shopify apps we would be happy to install ourselves

Shopyra is a team of three. We started in 2024 building and fixing Shopify stores for merchants — work we still take on — and the apps came straight out of it. No venture money, no growth team, no roadmap dictated by an enterprise deal.

What we do

Two halves of the same job. We build apps for the App Store, and we still take on the store work we started with — the second is where we learn what the first should do.

Live

Shopify apps

Small, focused apps published on the Shopify App Store. Slidify and TapTalk are live, Tabilo is in development, and more are on the way.

Taking projects

Store design and development

The freelance work we started with, and still take on: theme design and builds, bug fixing, new features, and performance work on existing stores.

Planned

Custom themes

A Shopify theme of our own, built to the same page-weight budget we hold our apps to. Early planning — nothing shipped yet.

Four things we will not compromise on

Most app decisions are trade-offs. These four are the ones we decided in advance so we never have to argue about them under deadline.

Page weight is a product decision

Every kilobyte we add is a kilobyte a merchant pays for on every session, on a phone, on a train. We set the bundle budget before we design a feature, and when the two disagree it is the feature that gets cut.

Small apps beat big suites

A single app that does six jobs is six times the surface area for something to break and six times the code your storefront loads. We would rather ship six focused apps and let you install two.

No dark patterns

Slidify shows what is actually in your catalogue. TapTalk shows an agent as away when they are away. If a feature only works by misleading a shopper, we do not build it.

Support is engineering

Support tickets go to the people who wrote the code. It is slower to staff and much faster to resolve, and it tells us what to build next better than any roadmap survey.

How we got here

  1. 2024

Shopyra starts as freelance Shopify work — designing and building storefronts for merchants, one project at a time.

  2. 2024 – 2025

Two years of client work: theme design, bug fixing, feature builds and performance work on live stores. The same problems come back store after store, and the apps merchants are told to install are usually part of the problem.

  3. 2026

We start building our own Shopify apps. Slidify is published first, then TapTalk. Tabilo goes into development.

  4. Next

Tabilo launches, more apps follow, and a custom Shopify theme goes into planning. The freelance service keeps running alongside all of it.
